Bottled at 103 proof, Blanton’s Gold delivers substantially more intensity than the standard Original Single Barrel. The nose opens with spicy rye, tobacco, caramel, honey, dark fruit, and citrus. On the palate, those flavors deepen into layers of vanilla, charred oak, rich caramel, baking spice, honey, and dark fruit, finishing exceptionally long with lingering oak, rye spice, and sweetness. Blanton’s officially describes Gold Edition as a 51.5% ABV expression built around rye, tobacco, honey, charred oak, and vanilla.

Like other Blanton’s expressions, the whiskey is drawn one barrel at a time from the historic Warehouse H, whose metal construction creates distinctive temperature fluctuations during maturation. Blanton’s traces its single-barrel tradition to Elmer T. Lee’s 1984 release, inspired by Colonel Albert B. Blanton’s practice of selecting individual barrels from Warehouse H for special guests.
